Johnathan Langston Chappell, MD was born and reared in Dublin, GA where he graduated valedictorian of his high school class. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology at Morehouse College where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Chappell also was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He received his medical degree at the Morehouse School of Medicine.
After completing his internship at the University of South Alabama, Dr. Chappell trained in dermatology at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. Having spent over half of his residency at the Washington VA Medical Center- Dr. Chappell is proficient at treating all skin types. He is skilled in medical and cosmetic dermatology, but during residency, he developed a keen interest in diagnosing and treating skin cancer.
Following residency, Dr. Chappell completed a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery. His fellowship was at Northwestern Skin Cancer Institute in Chicago under the tutelage of Drs. Brian Cook and Jean Christophe Lapiere.
Dr. Chappell is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and double-board certified in Dermatology & Mohs Surgery.
He was awarded the Top Doctors of Atlanta 2019, as published in Atlanta Magazine.
